A toilet that runs all night or leaks around the base is more than an annoyance. A cistern that never quite stops filling can send a surprising amount of water down the drain, and on a metered Watercare supply you pay for every litre. A slow leak at the pan connection can rot a timber floor before anyone notices.
We repair and replace toilets in homes and businesses across Auckland. Most cistern faults are fixed in one visit with parts from the van. When a toilet is cracked, worn out or just ugly, we supply and fit a new one and take the old one away.
Pricing: quotes are free, and every job gets a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Common toilet problems we fix
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a call:
- Cistern keeps running or refilling on its own
- Weak flush or you have to hold the button down
- Water on the floor around the base of the pan
- Toilet rocks or moves when you sit on it
- Cracks in the pan or cistern
- Slow to fill, or noisy inlet valve
- Button stuck, broken or not returning
Repair: what usually goes wrong
Inside the cistern there are two main parts: the inlet valve that refills it and the outlet (flush) valve that releases water into the pan. Worn seals on the outlet valve cause the silent trickle into the bowl that keeps the cistern topping up. A tired inlet valve can overfill and spill into the overflow. Both are standard replacement parts, and we carry the common types.
Leaks at the base usually come from the pan connector or a failed seal where the pan meets the waste pipe, or from loose fixings that let the pan move. We remove the pan, replace the seal or connector and refix it solidly. Wobbly pans on timber floors sometimes reveal soft, water-damaged flooring underneath, and we will show you if we find it.
How It Works
Replacing a toilet
When the pan is cracked, parts are no longer available, or the toilet is part of a bathroom renovation, a new toilet is the better spend. We help you pick a suite that suits the existing waste position (an S-trap into the floor or a P-trap into the wall), the space, and the style you want. Back-to-wall and wall-hung toilets look tidy but need more planning. In New Zealand every toilet sold must carry a Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) star rating showing litres per flush, which makes comparing water use simple.
What it costs
Cistern part replacements are at the lower end. Replacing a whole suite, moving the waste outlet, converting to a wall-hung toilet or repairing a rotten floor costs more, and we quote that before we start.
Toilets in Auckland homes
Older Auckland villas and state houses often still have high-level or older low-level cisterns with parts that are hard to find, and their waste pipes can be old earthenware below the floor. Homes from the 1970s and 1980s commonly have single-flush toilets that use far more water than a modern dual flush. If the problem is a blocked toilet rather than a leak, the cause may be further down the drain, such as tree roots in an old clay pipe, and a CCTV drain inspection shows where.
Why Choose Cheeky's Plumbers for Toilet Repairs
Common parts on the van
Inlet valves, outlet valves, seals and pan connectors for the common cistern types are carried on the van, so most repairs are done in one visit.
Water-efficient replacements
When we replace a toilet, we point you to a well-rated dual-flush suite by its WELS star rating, the biggest water saving in older homes with single-flush cisterns.
Matched to your waste outlet
We pick a suite that suits your existing S-trap or P-trap outlet, so a replacement does not turn into moving pipes unless you want it.
Floor damage shown, not hidden
If a leaking pan has softened the timber floor, we show you before the pan goes back down and price the repair.
Old suite taken away
New toilets are fitted, leak tested and the old suite removed, with the price agreed first.
Toilet Repairs FAQs
Why does my toilet keep running?
Usually a worn outlet valve seal lets water trickle into the bowl, or the inlet valve is overfilling into the overflow. Both are standard parts we replace.
How much does a toilet repair cost in Auckland?
We confirm the price before starting.
Is a running toilet costly?
It can be. Auckland homes are metered, so a cistern that runs constantly adds to your water and wastewater charges.
Why is water leaking around the base of my toilet?
Often a failed pan connector or seal, or loose fixings. Left alone it can damage the floor, so get it checked.
Can you install a wall-hung toilet?
Yes. It needs an in-wall frame and cistern, so it is easiest during a renovation, but it can be retrofitted.
What does the WELS star rating mean on a toilet?
It shows how water efficient the toilet is and its litres per flush. More stars means less water used.
